NIrV The Story for Kids
The NIrV narrative Bible in a format designed for children, presenting God's story from creation to new creation in simple, engaging language.
History & Background
The New International Reader's Version was first published in 1996 by Zondervan as a simplified version of the NIV designed for early readers, people with limited reading ability, and English-language learners. Written at roughly a 3rd-grade reading level with shorter sentences and simpler vocabulary, the NIrV is widely used in children's ministry. It follows the same dynamic equivalence philosophy as the NIV.
Canon Proximity Rating
Contains the standard 66-book Protestant canon. Simplified language introduces some reduction in precision compared to the base NIV.
