Supplement 10 — The Strongmen Guide: A Reference for Recognition and Response
This supplement consolidates the strongmen covered in Lessons 18–21 with their scriptural identification, their signature manifestations, the legal ground they require, and the specific response each requires. Use it as a reference for discernment and prayer.
The Lying Spirit
Scripture: 1 Kings 22:22-23, 2 Thessalonians 2:11
Signature manifestations: False prophecy, theological deception that feels spiritually alive, the consistent reception of "words from God" that confirm existing desire, difficulty receiving correction, persistent blindness to obvious contradictions between claimed revelation and Scripture.
Legal ground: Choosing what one wants to hear over what Scripture says. Repeated rejection of correction. Sustained engagement with false prophetic or teaching voices.
Response:
- Repent for choosing confirmation over truth
- Renounce every false word received as authoritative
- Submit all subsequent prophetic impressions to scriptural testing
- Establish accountability with a theologically grounded community
The Familiar Spirit
Scripture: Leviticus 20:27, 1 Samuel 28, Isaiah 8:19
Signature manifestations: Accurate information through illegitimate channels (psychics, mediums, divination), persistent curiosity about the deceased, dependence on a spiritual source other than the Holy Spirit for guidance, feeling "helped" by a specific entity.
Legal ground: Consulting psychics, mediums, Ouija boards, or divination systems. Inheriting a family pattern of occult consultation.
Response:
- Repent for and renounce every consultation of a divination source
- Break every familiar spirit relationship by name
- Command departure in Jesus' name
- Establish the Holy Spirit as the sole legitimate guide
The Spirit of Perversion
Scripture: Isaiah 19:14, Isaiah 5:20
Signature manifestations: Sexual confusion, attraction to morally inverted ideologies, comfort with the reframing of sin as virtue, difficulty with biblical clarity on sexuality and gender, systematic twisting of Scripture's plain meaning.
Legal ground: Sexual sin, pornography use, sustained exposure to gender ideology or sexual liberation frameworks, participation in LGBTQ-affirming theological communities.
Response:
- Repent for specific sexual sin and exposure
- Renounce the Spirit of Perversion
- Rebuild understanding of human sexuality from Scripture
- Establish accountability and community with sound biblical teaching
The Spirit of Jealousy
Scripture: Numbers 5:14, 1 Samuel 18:9
Signature manifestations: Inability to celebrate others' success, persistent comparison, the experience of others' elevation as personal diminishment, difficulty in community and leadership relationships, patterns of betrayal or erosion of close relationships.
Legal ground: Sustained comparison-based resentment, specific acts of sabotage or undermining rooted in competitive jealousy.
Response:
- Name the specific comparisons and specific people
- Repent for each act of jealousy-driven behavior
- Pray specifically for the flourishing of those you have resented
- Renounce the Spirit of Jealousy
The Spirit of Whoredom
Scripture: Hosea 4:12, Hosea 5:4
Signature manifestations: Sexual addiction and compulsion, inability to maintain exclusive covenant loyalty (to God or spouse), spiritual restlessness that drives continued seeking from sources outside Christ, idolatry patterns.
Legal ground: Sexual sin outside covenant, pornography, spiritual adultery through sustained involvement with false religious systems.
Response:
- Address both physical and spiritual dimensions simultaneously
- Break soul ties from sexual sin
- Renounce specific idolatries
- Renounce the Spirit of Whoredom
- Establish accountable community
The Spirit of Pride
Scripture: Isaiah 14:13-14, Proverbs 16:18
Signature manifestations: Inability to receive correction, dismissal of counsel from those perceived as less gifted or less educated, spiritual pride masking as discernment, patterns of church or ministry conflict rooted in refusal to submit.
Legal ground: Sustained independent spirit, consistent dismissal of correction, specific acts of pride-driven competition or control.
Response:
- Repent for specific acts of pride
- Practice specific submission to spiritual authority
- Renounce the Spirit of Pride
- Ask God to reveal where pride has operated unconsciously
The Spirit of Heaviness
Scripture: Isaiah 61:3
Weapon: The garment of praise — sustained worship as spiritual warfare, not as mood management.
The Spirit of Fear
Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7, 1 John 4:18
Weapon: The revelation of the Father's perfect love — specifically rebuilding the understanding of God's character through Scripture, combined with renunciation of the Spirit of Fear.
The Spirit of Bondage
Scripture: Romans 8:15
Weapon: The Spirit of adoption — the specific counter to the Spirit of Bondage is the full reception of sonship/daughtership, combined with community accountability and the practical restructuring of environments that provide access.
