Part V — How the Enemy Gains Access: Open Doors and Spiritual Attacks
Hypnosis and Past-Life Regression
Hypnosis and Past-Life Regression
She booked the session for weight loss. The hypnotherapist was professional, credentialed, gentle. The induction took eleven minutes. She came out of the session calm and resolved about her eating habits.
She also came out of the session with three new "memories" she had not carried going in: vivid emotional recollections of a life in 18th-century France, a violent death by drowning, a face she had never seen but now saw clearly in dreams. The hypnotherapist called these "past-life bleed-throughs." She said they were healing. She suggested a regression session to process them.
She did not know that the memories were not memories. She did not know that the beings that had provided them in the trance state had not left.
What It Is
Hypnosis is an induced state of narrowed attention and heightened suggestibility in which the subject's critical faculty is suspended and unconscious material becomes more accessible. In deep somnambulistic trance, post-hypnotic suggestions can execute hours later without conscious memory. The will is not merely relaxed — it is temporarily subordinated to the hypnotist's directing voice.
Past-life regression uses hypnosis to "recover" supposed memories of previous incarnations. It has been popularized through Brian Weiss's Many Lives, Many Masters and Michael Newton's Journey of Souls — both of which recount information allegedly received from regression subjects about previous lives, between-life "spirit realms," and communications with guides.
The Demonic Deception
The Bible knows nothing of past lives. Hebrews 9:27: "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." One life. One death. One judgment. The reincarnation framework is not an alternative Christian theology — it is a non-Christian theological structure adopted from Eastern religions in which the cross is unnecessary because death is simply a transition to another iteration of the same journey.
The "memories" recovered in regression are not genuine. They are either demonic implants or familiar spirit deception — fabricated narratives provided by entities that have extensive historical knowledge and can produce convincing period-accurate detail. The emotional distress experienced during regression is real. The narrative producing it is false. And the entities that provided the narrative during the trance state frequently remain attached.
Isaiah 26:3: "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee." The mind stayed on God — anchored, directed, engaged. The deliberate opposite of the surrendered, passive mind that hypnosis requires.
How It Opens the Door
Voluntary surrender of the will creates a spiritual vacancy. God designed the human will to be the executive function of the soul — the faculty through which we choose God, resist the enemy, and govern our inner life. Hypnosis requires the deliberate subordination of the will to another voice. In the spiritual realm, this is a voluntary opening — the will's defensive function temporarily removed.
Familiar spirits provide false memories that produce lasting spiritual attachment. The entity that gave a regression subject her 18th-century "memories" established a relationship during the trance that it maintains afterward. Regression clients often report that the entity they encountered felt more familiar and trustworthy than any human relationship — because it has been presenting itself as their companion across "multiple lifetimes."
Progressive deepening is the design. Smoking cessation hypnosis leads to anxiety management, which leads to regression, which leads to "between-life" sessions, which leads to spirit guide contact. Each step is the natural next step in a progression the enemy designed.
What This Means for You Right Now
If you have been hypnotized — for any stated purpose, by any credentialed practitioner — you have voluntarily surrendered your will to a directing voice that is not God's. The therapeutic benefit does not change the spiritual reality of what occurred.
Repent for the surrender of your will. Renounce every entity that entered during trance states. Renounce every false memory implanted during regression, and specifically break the attachment of each entity that provided those memories. Ask the Holy Spirit to restore full sovereignty to your will and your mind.
One clarifying note on involuntary altered states: this lesson addresses voluntary hypnotic submission. People who have experienced trauma dissociation or involuntary altered states are not in the same category — those experiences require healing rather than repentance.
Hypnosis opens the mind to external direction. Smudging attempts to clean the space afterward. The next lesson reveals why that cleaning makes the problem worse.
Community Discussion: Have you undergone hypnosis — clinical or recreational? What was the stated purpose, and what did you experience?
