Module 7: The Spirit's Mission
9 min read
The Holy Spirit is the engine of mission. Jesus gave the Great Commission — go and make disciples of all nations — but He did not send His followers alone. He promised power. That power is the Holy Spirit.
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses" Acts 1:8. Notice the order: power first, witness second. The Spirit does not send powerless people to do impossible work. He clothes them with ability, boldness, and words.
A witness is someone who has seen and heard something and cannot keep silent. The Spirit makes the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus so real to us that we become natural witnesses.
The mission begins where you are — your Jerusalem. Then it expands to your region — your Judea and Samaria. Then it reaches the nations — the ends of the earth. The Spirit empowers every stage.
Your Jerusalem is your home, your neighborhood, your workplace, your school. Your Judea and Samaria are the next circle out: your city, your region, people different from you. The ends of the earth are the unreached peoples of the world.
The Spirit's strategy is not complicated. He fills ordinary people with extraordinary power and sends them to ordinary places with an extraordinary message. You do not need to be a theologian or a missionary to participate. You need to be filled with the Spirit and willing to speak.
Every believer has a part. Some are sent across the world. Some are sent across the street. Both matter. The Spirit gives each person the words, courage, and opportunities they need.
This week, ask the Spirit to show you your part. It may be a conversation, an act of service, a financial gift, or a prayer commitment. The mission starts with openness to the Spirit's prompting.
