At a Glance
Summary: The believer's authority over Satan rests on Christ's finished victory, identity in Christ, the name of Jesus, the Word of God, and persistent prayer.
Key principle: "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" Ephesians 2:6. The believer's position in Christ is the foundation of all spiritual authority.
Core teaching points:
Authority over Satan's power: Luke 10:19, Mark 16:17, James 4:7, 1 John 4:4.
Authority from Christ's victory: Colossians 2:15, Hebrews 2:14, 1 John 3:8, Revelation 12:11.
Authority from identity in Christ: Ephesians 2:6, Ephesians 1:19-23, Romans 6:14, Galatians 2:20.
Authority through the name of Jesus: Philippians 2:9-10, Acts 4:12, John 14:13-14, Acts 16:18.

Authority in prayer: Ephesians 6:18, 1 John 5:14-15, James 5:16, Matthew 18:18-19.
Real-world example: A missionary facing intense opposition begins each morning declaring Ephesians 1:20-23 and Ephesians 2:6, finding courage to preach despite hostility.
Practice & Assessment
Common student mistake: Trying to exercise authority through formulas, personal intensity, or repeated phrases rather than resting in Christ's finished victory.
Practice assignment: Memorize one verse from each of the six authority categories and declare them aloud each morning for one week.
Worksheet idea: "Authority Declaration Cards": create six cards, one per category, with a verse and a personal declaration of authority in Christ.
Completion requirement: Recite one verse from each of the six authority categories and demonstrate using one of them in prayer.
