Personal Application
This supplement is a heart-to-heart companion to the preceding two lessons — addressing your immediate personal needs and practical application of the truths studied.
Financial bondage is not always caused by Satan, but Satan often exploits poor stewardship, greed, fear, and debt. This checklist helps identify and close doors to financial oppression.
Repent of greed and covetousness
Greed is idolatry Colossians 3:5. Confess any desire for wealth, status, or security that has replaced trust in God. Renounce the love of money 1 Timothy 6:10.
Repent of poor stewardship
Have you spent beyond your means, failed to budget, neglected giving, or been dishonest in finances? Confess these as sin and ask God for wisdom.
Cancel ungodly vows and agreements
Renounce any verbal or written commitment made to demons, occult powers, prosperity schemes, or unethical business practices. Break their claim in Jesus' name.
Tithe and give offerings
Honor the Lord with the firstfruits of your increase Proverbs 3:9. Regular, cheerful giving breaks the grip of mammon and declares that God is your source 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.
Create a written budget
A budget is a tool of obedience. Know what comes in, what goes out, and where you can reduce. Faithful management of little leads to greater responsibility Luke 16:10.
Pay debts faithfully
Owe no man anything but love Romans 13:8. Make a plan to repay debts. Contact creditors honestly. Avoid new debt while reducing old debt.
Reject get-rich-quick schemes
Easy money often opens the door to greed, deception, and loss. Proverbs warns against wealth gained hastily Proverbs 13:11Proverbs 28:20, 22.
Break curses and generational patterns
If there is a family history of poverty, bankruptcy, theft, or financial collapse, confess and renounce it. Declare that you are a new creation in Christ 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Declare financial truth
Seek accountability
Share your financial plan with a trusted believer. Ask for prayer and practical help if needed. Do not hide financial failure; bring it into the light.
Summary: Financial bondage is often a mixture of poor stewardship and Satanic exploitation; freedom comes through repentance, budgeting, faithful giving, debt reduction, and accountability.
Key principle: "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much" Luke 16:10. Faithful stewardship opens the door to greater responsibility.
Core teaching points:
Real-world example: A couple drowning in credit-card debt confesses overspending, creates a budget, cancels an ungodly vow made in desperation, begins tithing, and meets monthly with a financial mentor.
Common student mistake: Assuming every financial struggle is a demonic curse rather than examining stewardship, greed, and unwise choices.
Practice assignment: Complete the checklist honestly, create a written budget, and write a debt-reduction or stewardship plan.
Worksheet idea: "Financial Freedom Plan": list income, expenses, debts, giving, and three specific stewardship changes you will make.
Completion requirement: Complete the checklist, submit a written budget, and commit to three stewardship changes.
