Module 6: The Spirit's Gifts
9 min read
Not all gifts are dramatic. Many of the most important gifts are quiet, practical, and behind-the-scenes. The Spirit gives gifts of administration, giving, mercy, helps, leadership, and hospitality. These gifts keep the church running and the mission moving.
Administration is the ability to organize, plan, and manage people and resources effectively. Every church, nonprofit, and mission needs administrators. Without them, vision dies in confusion.
The gift of giving is more than writing a check. It is the Spirit-enabled ability to give generously, joyfully, and strategically. People with this gift often see needs before others do and find creative ways to meet them.
The gift of mercy is the ability to feel and respond to the suffering of others. Mercy-gifted believers are drawn to the hurting, the lonely, the sick, and the broken. They reflect the compassion of Jesus in practical ways.
Helps is the gift of coming alongside others to assist in their work. It is the gift of reliable support. People with this gift make everyone around them more effective. They are the unnoticed backbone of many ministries.
Leadership is the Spirit-given ability to guide, inspire, and direct a group toward a shared vision. Biblical leadership is servant leadership, not domination. A Spirit-gifted leader empowers others rather than using them.
Hospitality is the gift of creating welcoming spaces for strangers, newcomers, and friends. It is a ministry of inclusion. In a lonely world, hospitality is a powerful expression of the gospel.
The church cannot function with only preachers and prophets. It needs administrators, givers, mercy-bearers, helpers, leaders, and hosts. Your gift may seem ordinary, but in the Spirit's hands it is extraordinary.
